Good afternoon! I'm trying to pull the rack and pinion from my wifes car as it snapped on the passenger side mount. However, the drivers side mount is giving me all sorts of problems. I cannot get the bolt out of the mount as it seems the steering stabilizer is in the way?? Moreover, I cannot get the stabilizer out or moved.. It's less than an inch in the way but in the way either way!! Please help cause I've been wrestling this thing for 2 days and still at the same point. All the manuals I have are of no help, any tips/tricks or advice would be appreciated!! As I'm at a complete loss!!

Hi,

Removing and replacing the rack and pinion gear (steering gear) can be difficult. Based on your description, it sounds like you need to first remove the stabilizer bar. Additionally, I can tell you it needs to be removed through the left wheel opening. (driver's side)

I have provided the directions below for the removal and replacement of the rack and pinion. Take a look through them and let me know if you have additional questions.

Take care,

Joe
