What causes a humming noise apparently in the front of the car that gets louder the faster you go in the car?

I haven't noticed whether the sound changes when I turn but there is no humming when the care is not moving (whether the engine rpm is raised or not) but when the car is rolling it gets worse...nearly unbearable at high speeds.

Yeah, I'm thinking wheel bearing. When your at the higher speeds, vere left than right and see if there is a change.

I might be wrong of course, but it fits at this point.

May want to jack up the front end and check for play in the bearings. I would expect a little play if they are that bad.

2 days ago, i had the right front ball joints replaced and about a year ago, i had the cv axle replaced. Do you think that some work on one of these 2 repairs could have been done wrong? Additionally, what are the other possible causes if its not the wheel bearings?

Not completely. I noticed the huming before the repairs. However, it did seem to get louder since the repairs.

My guess that the bearings got a little more joustled during the related repairs. This is no fault of the mechanic. No question that I would start there based on the symptoms, we can spend a whole day on discussing possibilies of other sources, but there are way too many folks needing help. You have a pretty good likleyhood I nailed this one for you.

Take it back to the shop that did the work and tell them the nosie you have got worse. They should have test drove it afterwards and picked it up regardless. Foolish on their part..lost sales.
