Six cylinder two wheel drive Automatic 103,000 miles.

I recently bought this car it it the GT model. I have tried to check the transmission fluid and could not find where to do so. I had someone else look and they found it, but when they opened it up there was no dipstick to check it with. Are we missing something?

It does not have a dip-stick. Here is how you add fluid: Start the engine and allow the engine to idle until the transmission fluid temperature has reached the value specified. Depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever through the gear ranges, pausing a few seconds in each range. Return the shift lever to the "park" range. Remove the fluid vent cap. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. The vehicle must be level, with the engine running and the shift lever in the "park" range. Caution: The engine must be running when the transmission fluid fill plug is removed, or excessive fluid loss will occur. The transmission fluid may be hot. Since the actual fluid level is unknown, stand clear when removing the fill plug. Have a container ready to capture any lost fluid. Do not turn the engine off with the fill plug removed, as you can be injured by hot transmission fluid being expelled out of the oil fill opening. Remove the transmission oil level control plug.

This transmission only has a fluid vent cap that you can unscrew to add fluid. Post back with any other questions.

Transmission level indicator plug is in the side of the trans axle. Bring transmission up to operating temperature and follow the guides below

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

You mention checking the fluid, is it full, not burned? Is there a check engine light on, any noises? Does it just have no forward gears, but has reverse, or no gears at all?

Without knowing it is truly full of fluid, and the condition that fluid is in, there isn't much recommendation I can make. The symptom you describe could be internal transmission related, or it could be related to low fluid level. Obviously, to have low fluid level, that would suggest a leak. Is it leaking transmission fluid at all?

This is best to leave it to a shop to do. The transmission has a fill plug and level check plug. It has to be a particular temperature as the fluid expands with heat. The level is good when it stops coming out of the level plug hole.

Where would I check the transmission fluid in this car I think that it is running low as the car has to warm up quite awhile before it will go into gear. Thank you so much for all your help.

You may want to have a shop do this. I do not believe there is a dipstick on that one.
