Electrical problem
1997 Pontiac Grand Am

Replaced the speedometer cluster. Replaced it with a used one. Also replaced the computer. Both used parts came from same car. Now car will start and run for 1-2 mins then die. Almost like a secuity shut-off. How can I get it running?

When the key is on with the engine not running, (the position just before you crank), does the security light flash off and on?

This will indicate a security code set.

But first, you stated the computer was replaced; on this model there is only an engine computer and not a separate body control computer. Most likely there is not security light or anti theft feature for this model which means we need to collect some more information.

1) When did the dying problem begin?

2) Why were the instrument panel and “computer” replaced? ( To fix what?)
