i have a 96 pontiac grandam, the ignition broke and i need to replace the entire colum, is there a way to bypass the wires so that i can just make it push button or toggle switch to get the car to start and run, until i am able to affored to replace the whole unit? and if so i dont want to cross wire anything so how and what would be the correct method to do this. thanks carl

don't even think about cutting wires and adding toggle switches . you are asking for trouble. just because your ignition broke doesn' tmean you have to replace the column. go to a junk yard and get one that matches if you want to replace it.....
