I have a 1996 Grand Am and the check engine light just came on. I would like to purchase a cheap scan tool to get the code but don't know what to buy. I have found they range from about $50 up to several thousand. I have found some on ebay for as low as $15 that claim to work on this car but I want to be sure. Any input would be appreciated. My old car I could get the code just by using a paper clip.
