when step down on trottle starts to cut out real bad if you dont leave off the gas it will back fire and shut off it is a 2.5 distriberless ignition could a coil pack do this

Usually a tune up will rid your vehicle of a backfire issue. Have plugs, wires, fluids, filters etc... inspected/replaced. Use OEM plugs and wires from dealer as these components are usually a little cheaper made at parts stores.

Okay, good. Check the timing. This can also cause backfire. It could also be a worn distributor.
