2005 G6 Sedan with about 80,000 miles.

Turned the A/C on and didn't get any cool air. Looked at the compressor and noticed the clutch plate was missing. Is this indicative of the compressor going bad or improper assembly during manufacture?

Thanks
Mike

Was it making any strange noises before you had the problem? As far as the part, I've never seen one missing in nearly 30 years in the business.

Let me know about the noise.

Nope, no noise. I've since had the compressor replaced and took a couple of pictures of the old clutch if you're interested in checking them out.

I can turn the shaft by hand and can hear the stuff inside turning so I don't think it had anything to do with the compressor seizing. To me, except for the rust on the shaft where the plate used to be it looks like someone just took it off.

The pictures don't seem to be going through so I've made them smaller.

Thanks. It looks like the bolt just came off. If I recall, it is a left handed thread to prevent that from happening.

I was thinking that too or that the bolt was never there. Unfortunately GM didn't share my opinion.

I've been in the business nearly 30 years. I never saw a bolt like that come out without force.
