I have a shallow knocking noise in my firebird. It sounds like a beer can bouncing on a fan blade. The noise happens mostly while in gear, and accelerating. It doesn't happen in reverse, or in neutral. If I am accelerating, and I let off of the gas, the noise stops. If I am accelerating, and I throw it in neutral, and hit the gas again, it stops., but comes back as soon as I put it back in gear, and continue accelerating. The noise also appears (sometimes) if I am stopped on an incline, or if I put the car in park on an incline. I am lost, and have no idea what this is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. This noise doesn't effect the performance. The car shifts fine (it's an automatic), and accelerates fine. The noise almost sounds like it's coming from the transmission/starter area, but not really sure.
