My 1998 Pontiac Firebird has problems with the radio. I can be driving down the road and my radio will just turn on or off. Whenever this happens, I can also hear the power antenna going up or down. I have tried to watch to see if anything triggers this to happen. Sometimes when I push the power windows button, it will cause the radio to turn off. My Dad has checked the voltage on the radio fuse and when it turns off, the voltage is not there (but the fuses are ok). Sometimes my power windows don't work either. What should I do?

I am having the same problem with my 97 firebird. I have found that hitting a bump or slamming the door can make it change. I still haven't solved it but am getting closer. Apparently the window and radio power are on the same circuit. Also the convertible top power. The power from the battery passes thru something called the body control module before getting to the fuse box. What I do not know is where GM hid the body control module.

It is the Body Control Module. I have been having the same problem with my 98 Firebird, now and then, for the last 6 months. Just this evening my window stopped going up. Couple times it went up a inch or so, but for the last hour nothing more. I have a 02 parts car. I pulled the BCM from my parts car, plugged it in and it went right up without the radio turning off. It is located above the passenger I/P panel (kinda behind the glove box). I had already tried a few ground connection, battery terminal and computer connections. Time will tell of course, but I feel very confident in the repair. $40 or so on eBay.
