1995 Pontiac Firebird Oil pan

I recently rebuilt my stock LT1 350 and turned it into a 383 stroker motor. When it was rebuilt the new main studs did not have the studs sticking out of them for a baffle or shrowd that was origanllly on the motor i have taked to a few poeple and was told mixed things. some say that it is not important. some say that without this oil will slosh around to much and i will loose horsepower some how. others say there is no need. What do i do about this should i leave it out or do i correct the problem. Please help.

Well I could say that everybody is right. the reason for the baffle is to keep the oil from sloshing around. You can get away without one but there is something to think about. If the oil sloshes around enough say for example on a hard turn or hard acceleration and the oil sloshes back away from the oil pickup and the engine is running the engine will not be pumping up oil. It may only be for a second or two. You can chance it and hopefully it will be all right. just make sure the oil is full. Some pans are designed without the baffles but are deeper that has more oil capacity. If you are looking for a pan that has the baffles you can check out summit racing. They have stock oil pans as well as racing and have just about everything for engines. For a stock pan you can also look at year one.com
