I have a 1988 Firebird V-6 with 216,000 miles on it. Overall it still runs well. Today i got home and shut it off and it started overheating. I checked fluid levels and they were fine (until it boiled out all over the ground) I noticed when i refilled and started it that the cooling fan was not running. I rapped the motor with the palm of my hand and it began to spin,,,very slowly and then stopped after about 30 seconds. when looking up the prices of a new fan I discovered there were several switches ie: fan control ..radiator switch etc. How can I tell if it's a switch or the fan itself? Money is tight and i really can't just start buying things until i find the right one.
