Engine Mechanical problem
1987 Pontiac Firebird V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
i just finished installing my new 383. I started it up tonight and I ran it at 2000 rpm for 10 minutes, then i noticed the oil pressure gauge read 0. im pretty sure its not the gauge thats off because when i first started it it was at 60+. im not sure how long it was running with no oil pressure. could i have done a lot of damage by running it with no oil pressure? what other reason than a bad oil pump might cause this?

Hi there,

check the pressure with a master gauge first, it would of been knocking its head off with 0 oil pressure, you may just have a faulty sender or gauge, do this first and re post your findings.
