Engine problem
1987 Pontiac Fiero 4 cyl Automatic 200000 miles

I threw a rod on my Fiero. I am not sure whether it went through the block or not or how to even tell. I love the car and don't want to let it go. I have been looking around online to get at least an estimate and have been unsuccessful. I am just curious around how much it could cost cost depending on what circumstances.

The book labour for R&R engine is about 7 hours,

The price of an Engine will vary depending on condition, you will also have to allow for oil, filter, plugs, coolant, consumables, cleaning, and any hoses and sundry items that may be needed, such as thermostat, radiator clean, engine mounts, so as you can see it is not as easy as it looks to supply and fit a motor, ring a work shop and they will be able to give you a base price, but now you will be aware of some of the extras, so you may be able to inquire about these as well, just in case.
