I have a 1985 Fiero with the 2.5L. At engine temp. the RPMs vary from about 500 to about 1500. It willl idle at about 1500 for a couple of seconds then drop to 500 for a few seconds then back up to 1500 for a couple seconds and back down to 500. It does this repeatedly. It also so makes a chugging sound out of the tail pipe. There is some white smoke comming out of the tail pipe too. But the oil on the dipstick looks good. The exhaust smells strong, I think that the engine is running REALLY rich. There is 160,000 mile on the engine. No trouble codes to report. What should I look for?
