Hi,

I would like to know how to install front brake and rotors on a 2000 bonneville pontiac 68 k

I have read on this site the step by step instructions but would like futher,

I know how to remove tire, and caliper, i think my question is, the brake pads.. how are they held in by the caliper, are they just placed in, or how do they hold and how easy is it to replace the front brakes and rotors, i know the rotors just slide off but do you need to grease anything? any help would be much appericated! even step by step if you have the time!

thanks,
john

This is pretty straight forward. Remove the front wheel, next remove the bolts that hold the caliper in place and lift the caliper up and support it from the struts spring by a bent up metal cloths hanger. The pads are either slide in or my have a bracket holding them inplace which you may have to use a screwdriver to get it to slide off. The rotors will either slip off without removing anything else or you may have to remove the caliper mounting bracket, if my memory serves me right it is a very large torq bit I think a T60. Then your rotor will come off. Hope this helps.

I would suggest that you get a small package of brake lubricant, advance auto parts sells them at the registers for about 98 cents. Install it on the caliper slide pins(the part that the caliper slide on) which prevents the caliper from sticking and causing uneven brake pad wear. Good luck.
