Hello, I just purchased this vehicle. It didn't have an inspection sticker on it. Brought it to Firestone and they said it couldn't pass inspections because the sensor lights are not coming on. They told me that the car has probably been sitting awhile, they told me to drive it for about 40 to 60 miles to blow it out. Then bring it back. What are sensors? and why did they tell me to drive it awhile to activate the sensors? I haven't driven it yet, but intend to. I want to know if this would help me pass inspection.

There are many sensors on the newer cars. They communicate with the car's main computer to let it know how everything is working or if there is a problem. I don't know where you live or the state's requirements, so it's hard for me to say why they are failing it because the lights are not on. Here, in Pennsylvania, if a light is on, it fails. If there are no lights, it passes. As far as driving it, I'm not sure what they are trying to do. I can't think of anything it will change.
