Well, i just came home from a drive in movie theater, and right when i started my car to leave the theater my 'check gages' light was on and i noticed my battery indicator light was just around 10-12 and my interior lights/dashboard lights were dimmer than usual. while driving home i also noticed my blinkers were blinking substantially slower than usual. after the car died, tried starting it a few times, then i let it sit for around 20 minutes and started again, it started, all lights still dim, and while idling in drive it was accelerating faster than normal. when i would hit the gas it would make a terrible grinding noise. after finally making it to my street it died again. i had a friend come jump start me, it worked the first time. we let the cables on longer to let it charge up and i took them off, and the battery light dropped to 8 and then stalled out again. and since then it wouldnt take a jump. just clicking when i turn the key, and dim interior lights. could this possibly be a failed alternator? the battery is fairly new. it says it was manufactured in oct 09. thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide me.
