1997 Pontiac Bonneville oil pressure

i have good oil pressure at startup but when engine warms up the oil pressure drops almost to the red on the guage and a chatter starts. could this mean the oil pump needs changed or could it be the oil pressure switch. if it is the oil pump, do you recomend a rebuild kit or total pump replacement.thanks for your input, chuck
