You're good-check the dipstick where the level is-it ask for 4qts without the filter might need 2 pints more to get it on the full mark area.

thanks but what I need to know, is if the dipstick doesn't say it is overfilled, is it true that for an engine that reads no oil via the dipstick that filling it up to the full point is wrong....some people are saying you shouldn't add it all at once

They got you all confuse-While engine is off when you pull the dipstick it will tell you whether you need oil or not-this is where you guide yourself.

If it doesn't go over the full mark then you don't need to add but below the full mark, it normally needs a quart to bring it up to the full mark.

Your car takes 4 quarts, if you fill it 5 than you're overfill.

Simple if the dipstick read no oil on it-its needs refilling, don't put in 4 qts unless the crankcase is totally empty. Put a qt one at a time.
