Noises problem
1992 Pontiac Bonneville 6 cyl Automatic 260000 miles

the gauges for battery, oil are fine it is not overheating.

it starts beeping whenever i accelerate. Beep beep beep beep beep. etc. it's pretty annoying.

check engine light is on but the car runs on the freeway fine. any ideas on what is wrong?

The noise used to be intermittent but now it beeps on almost all the time when i accelerate. it sounds like the sound when you leave the key in the ignition when you open the driver's door but it is more continuous (less time between beeps)

I want the noise to stop. I am trying to avoid taking it to a mechanic.

Hello
Thanks for the donation

First off I would like to apologize for the wait..

Since your engine light is illuminated you should first get the trouble codes retrieved. Most local part stores will do this free of charge. Post your codes retrieved and we can begin troubleshooting much quicker this way.

Is there any anti-theft devices on this vehicle or any unusual lights being illuminated when the beeping occurs?
