2001 Pontiac Aztek dash board is lifting

Bad news. Last week I took my Aztek in for normal maintenance and for my dashboard separating. I bought mine at the end of 2002 and the separation started shortly after Pontiac went kaputz, about six or so months ago. Convenient. The dealer told me 1) It would cost $1200 to replace the dash, but 2) Pontiac/GM doesn't carry them anymore. Don't you love it? You buy a car and eight or so years later Pontiac no longer exists. Too bad, so sad, and now we're left high and dry. Not fair at all. I guess all we can really do is patch it with duct tape and then toss a dashboard carpet over it. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
