Hi everyone,

Just to start off, the car was in the garage for 10 years when I lived in Europe: 1997 - 2007. When returning to visit the parents once or every second year, I would drive it. I can't remember when this problem started since returning to my city of origin in 2007.

Problem: When driving down a steep hill (without pressing the pedal), the motor would often stop. I would try to start the motor by switching to neutral but this wouldn't work. I would have to wait until I rolled to a stop. This would happen even when the gas tank was full.

A friend had a look but couldn't think of any solution.

Any ideas?

Try cleaning out the idle air control valve and test the throttle position sensor
