Code PO301 cylinder one misfire

Hi,

A misfire can be caused by several different things. In this case, the first thing I would do is remove the spark plug, inspect its condition, and see if there is a spark to it.

If you remove the plug, take a pic of the end of it and upload it for me to see. Also, if the plug is good, I want you to switch the coil from cylinder 1 to a different one. Then see if the misfire changes location.

If you look below, I included the removal and replacement of the ignition coils. You will only need to remove cylinder 1 to do the check.

Once the coil is unbolted and removed, the spark plug is down in the spark plug tube. Remove it and inspect. Actually, you may want to replace all the plugs if they haven't been done for some time.

Yes, the cylinder change to cylinder 2. so what does that mean?

You were asked to switch the cylinder #1 coil to a different location. By doing this you just determined you switched the misfire to cylinder #2 now. This just means we now know the ignition coil you moved is the defective component causing the problem. I've attached a picture below of the ignition coil from the AutoZone website with the price and part number. All you need to do now is purchase a new ignition coil and replace the one you switched. Can the coil be repaired?

I doubt you can find anyone who will repair a coil. It wouldn't be very cost effective either due to the price of a new coil. I just put the AutoZone picture for you as an example. You might be able to find one on Ebay or Amazon for a little less. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
