My brother has a 1993 Plymouth Voyager. He can't get the crankshaft bolt off. He has tried a strap and an airgun, but I don't know any other details. What suggestions could you give him on what to try next?

take a 22MM socket on a 1/2 inch breaker bar and place it on the nut.... turn the motor clockwise so that the is bar snug against the control arm and then carefully pulse the starter....that will break the bolt loose...... P.S.spray the bolt with a little of what is called PB BLASTER and tap bolt head with hammer before putting the breaker bar on and pulsing the starter

I have a 1995 Plymouth Voyager front-wheel drive 3.0 V6. My crankshaft bolt is a 22mm in size and was also seemingly impossible to break loose. I found a "vise grip" style pliers with a chain that can be hooked into the jaws of the pliers. The chain needs to be long enough to go around the vibration dampner, then simply turn the bolt until the pliers brace against something solid. In my case, the lower control arm of the suspension. I tried the strap and it just didn't have enough grip. The chain worked!
