1999 Plymouth Voyager Passenger side rear wheel area rattle

Hello Well, this is going to be interesting since I can not be there to hear the noise. So we will have to do some questions back and forth. The pic you supplied (thanks by the way) is the passenger side, rear of the car looking forward...yes? Is it a rattle? Can you describe it any different? Can you hear it when the car is just sitting still and running? Can you hear it when the car is just sitting still and you race the engine? Does it get louder or softer when you race the engine? Can you hear it when you are just driving? Can you hear it when you are driving on smooth road Can you hear it when you are driving on only ruff roads? Can you hear it when you are sitting or when you are driving? Please answer those questions. Also, there are several different engines for your car, 3.0 vin 3, 3.3 vin G flex fuel, 3.3 vin R, and 3.8 vin L. What is the 8th digit of your VIN? My current thought without knowing the above I have attached a couple of pics for you. You have a resonator at the end of the tail pipe and a muffler a little ways up from that. Many times they break down internally and what you hear is the pieces rattling around. The other pic is where the heat shield is. Sometimes these touch the muffler system and rattle from the vibration and sometimes they get loose and rattle. Look the exhaust over really good for any loose clamps, damage, etc. Also, shocks. With the weight of the car on the tires, check the top nut on the shocks to see if it is tightened to its spec. There are times these if not tight will rattle as the shock bounces. As I said this will be tough. I don't think it is anything in the axle area etc as this is close tolerance and you didn't say anything about the way it handled. So for now, I think we are okay there. Let me know about the above and we will take it from there.

I have the same problem with my 1999 Voyager - I can tell you it only does it when I hit a bump or drive on rough roads. There is no problem on smooth roads and the vehicle drives fine. Checked everything I can think of - can't find it
