Air Conditioning problem
1997 Plymouth Voyager 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 98k miles

i NEED to replace the serpentine belt on my 97 plymouth voyager 2.4L SFI DOHC 4cyl

I am looking for the BELT DIAGRAM and best way to put it on. The belt broke and I did not find any diagram on its placement under the hood. The Auto Parts store said there is no automatic tensioner for this model???

What is the 8th digit of your vin?Also which belt broke?What Does the belt run?

The belt runs the AIR COMP and ALT

It lists two differnt 2.4L engines that's why I asked for the 8th digit of your vin so I can get you the correct info.Could I please get that from you so I can get the correct info to you.

1. Loosen lower generator pivot bolt and upper locking nut, then loosen adjusting bolt to remove belt tension. CAUTION: Belt damage may occur if the following procedure is not performed. 2. Tighten lock nut to 21 Nm (180 inch lbs.) and torque generator pivot bolt to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) . To assure proper alignment of generator assembly. Adjust belt tension by tightening the adjusting bolt until proper belt tension is obtained. 3. Torque lock nut to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) . There you go.

THANKS for the feed back! I think I can get it down from your info.

BUT the last 2 pictures are of the power steering pump. I don't have to make any adjustments too that do I? Do You have the CLOSE UP pictures of the ALT/COMP?

Also what is the difference between the B and the X 2.4 L.

BTW I was told by one REPAIR SHOP that the ENGINE I have in my car is made by MITSUBITSI (sp) and I would more then likely have problems with my TIMING BELT coming off as there were multiple changes (either Manufacturing or KITS) to CORRECT this problem, BUT there was a OEM FINAL FIX to this problem. Do You have any additional INFO on this and do You know of the OEM KIT PART # That was the "CURE ALL"

I was just giving you the other adjustment point's in case you wanted to change that belt too.I emailed you the diagram for the alternator and a/c compressor so you can see it better.I don't know the difference between the B and the X engine's it's possible dodge used a mistubushi engine they worked together to make some model's of car's even.I checked for technical Service Bulletins for the timing belt but couldn't find any that's the best i can tell you about that.
