Electrical problem

My instrument cluster back lighting does not work. I have performed all the tests that I can without a code reader per a Mitchell's guide. All my test point to a failed body control module. Can I purchase a matching BCM from a wrecking yard and install it without having other problems with the ECM or other modules? Thanks
