Engine Performance problem
1996 Plymouth Voyager 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1996 Plymouth Voyager. Last year the transmission was rebuilt. Just recently the car bucks and then stalls out when in gear coming to a stop or slowing down to turn. However when I come to a stop and shift it into nuetral it doesn,t buck or stall out. It is fine. What am I looking at?

Thanks,

-Kenn

Might be the torque converter clutch solenoid. The transmission has an electrically operated switch that mechanically engages the engine with the transmission at higher speeds. Sometimes it can stick and not release when slowing to an idle, when normally, the torque converter connects the engine to the transmission only by the pressure of the transmission fluid in the torque converter. A repair shop can check it.

How hard is it to fix torque convertor solenoid? Where is it?

Probably not a DIY job, but shouldn't be much trouble for a technician. THere's a cover on the lower front of the transmission (at least if you've got the A604-41TE four-speed) where the solenoids are located. I don't have specific information on the TCC for this transmission, but I'm pretty sure it's accessible there.
