Hi:
It could be timing, but usually when the chain or belt goes bad, it doesn't run at all. Did she have the fuel pump relay checked?

1995, 3 Liter v-6 engine, just stops running. It's like it loses pressure and you can hear the engine strain if foot is on the gas. Release the gas pedal and you might go another mile, but then it hust dies and will not start. Flicking the key in the on position a few times might get it to start, but before you can put it in gear it dies again. Did a complete tune-up: oil change & filter, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, replaced alternator belt. Want to know could it be the fuel pump or does the fuel pump have a relay of it's own. Then is it the catalytic converter? I've used the gas treatments twice to a quarter tank of gas, but no change. Any suggestions?
