Our fuel pump went out on our voyager and we had a full tank of gas we need to empty it before we drop the tank to replace the pump. We cannot sifon it from the place you put the gas into the vehicle and several other attempts have failed. Do you know what to do? We spent all we had to buy the part and my husband starts work monday so we need it fixed.

The pump will often start running if a helper bangs on the bottom the tank, but this MUST be done while cranking the engine. Once it's running, it will rarely quit on its own. It could continue to start up for weeks before it acts up again.

If you can get the pump to run, you can disconnect the supply hose on the passenger side of the engine, then add a length of hose to reach to a gas can. The pump will not run unless the engine is running so you'll have to energize it by bypassing the fuel pump relay. You can also pop the cover off the relay and squeeze the contacts with your fingers.
