i an currently trying to replace a c-v joint and i am stuck. We have gotten as far as the vehicle up on jacks and we can't seem to figure out how to get the ball joint out of our way to replace the c-v joint. If you have any advice please tell me

You leave the ball joint alone take off brake caliper then remove the two bolts that attach spindle to the strut. Take off axel nut swing spindle/bearing outward while pushing axel through the splines. If you want a good step by step go to tihs site

Removing the steering knuckle from the strut does help; however, you'll have to have a wheel alignment afterward, since the lower of the two bolts adjusts camber. Mark the position of the cam on that bolt head to the strut housing to eyeball it back when you reassemble. Notice the projection on the strut housing it contacts.

Also, you'll probably have to loosen the antiswaybar bushing housings on the control arm and the frame on that side to push the control arm down enough for the ball joint stud to clear the knuckle.
