[quote:7ea290b499="kj1003"]Engine Mechanical problem
1992 Plymouth Voyager 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 158000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have been told that they exhaust system is needing to get replaced. In the meantime it has developed a new problem. Every once in a while the van while die when slowing down to stop. I can get it restarted by gunning and shifting into drive at the same time. Of course when it is time to stop again I have to go through the same process. After doing this about 10 times it seems to be fine and will not die. Any idea what is causing this to happen?[/quote:7ea290b499]
this is what you PM'd me:

It had a total tune up in December. The only light that comes on the dash after it has died is the check guages light. The check engine light has not come on at all.[/quote:7ea290b499]
Does the Check engine light work? does it come on for a few seconds when you turn the key to the on position? Try pulling codes...
Ok, lets make sure I understand what you are saying to begin with.... the van stalls when slowing to a stop, it restarts with no problem. However, if you put it in drive and accelerate normally it stalls. So, in order for it not to stall you have to give it gas then shift into drive. Right?
If that is the case then it sound like it's the MAP Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure).
