The maintenance required light came onfor the first time in almost 20 years. I checked for codes, got 17. (coolant temp too low) I put a new thermostat in last summer. I disconnected the battery to remove the code but the light stays on. Is there any way to turn the light off without paying $65 for a dealer scan?

Is it extremely cold in your area? You might check the cts circuits. If the lite came on because of a problem, it won't stay off till the problem is fixed.
