i have a 1989 plymouth ssundance and the car wont start. when i trun the key the engine cranks but the fuel gauge wont register. i suspect the fuel pump needs replacing. is this fix the problem

check for fuel pressure 1st
also check fuses and relays
check for spark
check timing belt
fuel pump in tank
