1997 Plymouth Neon Speedometer

MY 99 NEON IS ONE BIG DASH BOARD SH0RT FROM @#$%. MY GAUGES, BELLS AND SPEEDOMETER COME AND GO ESPECIALLY ON THE INTERSTATE. FROM ALL I CAN GATHER, NEONS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR ELECTRICAL SHORTS? GOOD THING I CAN PRESS HARD ON THE SPEED OMERTER GLASS AND GET IT TO STOP FOR A WHILE. I HAVE HAD THE WHOLE DASH OUT AND CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. MUST BE INTERNAL

If ur speedometer don't work then ur odometer (mileage counter) WON"T work, it needs the speedometer to work it. If the rest of ur gauges work & just the speedometer/odometer aren't then check the speedometer cable connections to the cluster & transmission to make sure it's not lose at either point. If both connections are tight then unfasten one end & check the cable inside of it at both ends, they should be square shaped at both ends when looking at it head-on. If the edges are rounded replace the inside cable.
IF ALL THE GAUGES WORK INTERMITTANTLY: take ur cluster panel off & use a magnifying glass to check the solder joints on the circuit side of each gauge for cracks. They probably need some re-soldering.
