Brakes problem
2000 Plymouth Breeze

The brakes on my Breeze have squeaked the majority of the time I have owned it. Even when we replaced them a year or so ago, they started to squeak shortly after. This is the only car I have ever had that the brakes squeak so much. Is this a Plymouth or Breeze thing?

It is neither Plymouth or Breeze thing, but rather installer thing. If whomever that did the brake work did not turn the rotors and did not apply some anti-noise grease to the backing plates, you will get the squeaky noise. You should also use at least the medium grade brake pads, rather than the least expensive in the market.

The Breeze, Stratus, and Cirrus come factory-equipped with excessive brake squeal. It becomes worse in humid weather and when the linings are cold, and is actually caused by very high quality linings. The advantages of asbestos linings is they're very quiet and cheap. Unfortunately ya can't buy them anymore in this country.

There are a number of tricks that can be done to almost eliminate the squeal but you didn't ask HOW to fix it so I'm assuming you just want to know if it's normal. These cars do squeal a lot more than most.
