1998 Plymouth Breeze oil service light is on

Does the engine still crank over? how low was the oil?

well i don't know how much oil there was in it but it was still some in there and at first it started but it made a clunking sound but it would not accelerate. Then when i tried one more time it didnt really do anything but the inside functions worked just fine (meaning the lights and radio, ect.) so i really haven't done anything with it for a year or so. So now i finally can do something with the car... so i checked the oil and there was no oil in it at all but there are no oil underneath the car so i don't think there is a leak. Well i put oil in it and it turns on now but it still makes the clunking noise and it still doesn't accelerate.

The clunk is a worry, more than likely you have damaged a bearing, i feel that you will have to check for some serious engine damage to the bearings and crankshaft.

thank you very much... but i tried it again today and it turned and the noise was very faint this time around.

Hi there,

I think that if you get it hot and under load, you will get a nasty noise, if you can get it drivable it's wort a drive to see what happens.
