1997 Plymouth Breeze 2.0L 4cy. 172,000 miles. Timing belt broke will driving. I removed the shroud and had my wife turn the key. The belt "gears" don't turn, I can hear the starter turing the crank and the pisitons are turning. I this a major overhaul? Could I have caused internal damage when the belt broke? Is this worth fixing on a almost 10 yr old car?
THANKS!

to know for shure do a compression test..most of the smaller engines will bend valve or put holes in pistons.
