Hello: I am in need of new keys for my car the others were made by a Road Assistance person and they are not made correctly I have to wiggle them to get them to work right.
I was told the key code was on the drivers side lock mehanism. does the lock have to be taken out to see this code, if so, how? Thanks

The code was stamped on two metal rings that were attached to the keys when the car was delivered to the original owner. Often you will find them hiding in the glove box.

The selling dealer keeps a copy of the code and will provide it to any other dealer around the country but I don't know how long they keep that information. My dealership kept records for at least ten years.

The lock cylinder can be removed rather easily. Take it to the dealership. They will pop the cover off to remove the tumblers. They have a gauge to measure them and calculate how to cut new keys. Only takes them a few minutes.
