Hello, we have flushed and changed solenoids, and it still continues to slip around 3rd gear and as it gets hotter is slips or does not shift even sooner like in 2nd gear, we took it to AutoZone to get any codes that come out and we got one code, it is P0963, High voltage the solenoid is working when I test it but that code is still coming out, what is the easiest way and fastest to fix this, also could this be why the car is slipping or not going into gear, this is the picture I have of the solenoids, does the specific solenoid that the arrow is pointing to have independent wiring or its own wiring to troubleshoot properly, the electrical schematic is integrated into the whole assembly. How do I trouble shoot P0963 on this particular assembly?

The error code P0963 for a 2013 GMC Acadia indicates a problem with the "Pressure Control Solenoid 'A' Control Circuit High." So this will cause the transmission to slip or the pressure pump is going bad inside the transmission, there is a pressure port in the side of the case that you can plug a gauge into or you can swap out the pressure solenoid. Here is the wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works and which solenoid does what, I marked the #1 solenoid. Here is the correct way to remove and install the valve body plate in case you need it. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Okay, thank you so much, pump is working because we used it to flush the oil out from the outlet line, is it possible that the place where I buy the whole TCM assembly they can pre-program the TCM so I can just plug and play?

Ken, another question, after removing the TCM assembly and putting a new one or even the old one back do I need to drive the car to relearn the system, because I noticed that it drives and all but continues to slip.

Yep, you may have a broken clutch hub or the clutch discs are worn out. Was the fluid burnt? If so then this can be the problem. Also, if the transmission filter O ring is leaking the fluid will have air in it and make the transmission slip.

My Acadia runs great but it started giving me this problem where while I am driving it shifts like the automatic transmission should but when I hit about 50 MPH or 4th gear it does not go in gear the RPMs go sky high but the car does not go any faster feels kind of like slipping or not going into gear. I did change solenoids but problem is still there. please help

Hi,

Which solenoids were replaced? By chance, did you flush the transmission cooler lines or anything other than the solenoids?

If you haven't already, the vehicle should be scanned using a scan tool that can read all codes (CAN scan).

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link that shows how it is done:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/can-scan-controller-area-network-easy

Let me know if this is something you have already done or if you know what codes are stored.

Take care,

Joe

Hello, thank you for your response. I have done the things you mentioned, but the code coming out says that the computer is not communicating with the car, and I was able to drive it under 40 MPH but now nothing at all even reverse. When I put it into gear, I have to really force it to move even a little. do you know where I could buy or rent for cheap a TCM code scanner or programmer? thank you.

Hi,

You can get them on Amazon. Just make sure the one you select is able to communicate with the CAN system. Usually, they even indicate the TCM as a module it can communicate with.

Let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

The error code P0963 for a 2013 GMC Acadia indicates a problem with the "Pressure Control Solenoid 'A' Control Circuit High." So this code can be because the front fluid pressure pump is going out. It sounds like you need a rebuild.
