Does the same 5 speed gearbox fit petrol and diesel engines in the Peugeot 406 1996 ?

Do any cars have the same kind of gearbox as the diesel 406 ?

No the engines and boxes are different. Different bell housing / different ratios. depending on your model a Citroen C5 or a 405 may be the same. A transmission specialist or a scrapyard should be able to help you out.
