My vehicle sometimes will have a short pause while trying to start after driving for a while.

Hi,

Do you mean the starter is delayed or it takes longer for the engine to start? If it is the starter, explain how it happens. For example, does the starter engage, stop, and then continue?

Let me know.

Take care,

When you push the button, it tries to engage then a short pause then will crank over. It's only done it 3 or 4 times in the 10 months we have owned it.

Hi,

This isn't a common issue. When it tries to engage, do you hear a click or does the starter turn a second and then stop?

Also, based on the description, it sounds like a loose or corroded connection. Make sure the battery terminals are both clean and tight.

What is going to make this difficult is how often it happens. You could try scanning the can-bus to see if there are any codes related to the issue.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules in the vehicle are tied together via a few wires and they communicate with each other. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them. It may be worth a try to see if something is present.

Here is a link that explains how to do this:

Just out of curiosity, when did it last happen?

Let me know.
