Passenger door will only unlock with key and lock if you press the button in the driver door

My passenger door will not unlock or lock from inside, you have to lock it from the driver door button, and unlock it with the key on the outside of the door. I want to know what needs to be fixed? I took the interior door panel off and nothing looks wrong and when I move the door manually to lock and unlock the rod moves, but it does not lock or unlock.

Hello,

The door latch itself has gone bad just be thankful you can still open the door it gets messy when you cannot. Order a new latch from the dealer then install it by removing the three or four mounting bolts in the door jam. Below are some guides to help.
