passenger airbag sensor mat

I have isolated the air bag light says on problem to the passenger side seat cushion some companies sell a sensor. can I just bypass the old one and stick the sensor into the cushion? The OEM indicates this is a $1,000.00 seat change.

The mat comes with the module and this is the air bags we are talking about? Why would you risk someone's safety? After replacement the part needs to be configured and calibrated.

Thanks for your quick reply -- this is the front passenger seat occupancy emulator. Don't want to risk anyone's life.
