Hello, I have a 2016 Cadillac ELR with DTC P1E00. The car drives fine except every now and then the check engine light comes on to show the same persistent DTC. When the check engine light is on I am unable to charge the vehicle, and would need to clear the code via a OBD2. Now, I took the vehicle to Cadillac and a technician told me the issue is because of a failing part, 24051831. This part has been discontinued by GM and buying one new is near impossible. However, an older model part, 20997056, is readily sold in eBay and other stores. Would this older model part work with my vehicle?

I would say yes considering the page describing part #24051831 states that it replaces #20997056. If possible I would compare two pictures to be sure.

Hello,

The 20997056 appears to be the same service disconnect lever high-voltage battery disconnect part as 24051831, or a direct GM supersession/cross-reference. Multiple GM parts listings show 20997056 with “(24051831)” on the same page for ELR/Volt applications, which is a sign the older number and newer number are interchangeable in GM cataloging. The DTC P1E00 so a base code that the tell you there are more codes present so you will need a high end scanner to help find out the other codes. Charging will be disabled until the codes are cleared. So you will need all of the codes before I would replace anything, Please let us know what you find, Ken
