Parking brake fault- have the vehicle repaired message appeared?

Poor acceleration for a few days. When I was pulling off today, there was a warning light that came on saying parking brake failed- have the vehicle repaired. The parking brake won’t go on and there is a loud beeping and warning message when I turn the car off telling me to apply parking brake but it’s not working.

So, the parking brakes are electrically actuated, this means if the actuator is not working then the parking brake is still on. When you say you had the parking brake repaired what did they do to fix it? Most of the time the parking brake actuators need to be replaced, is that what they did? I would not drive the car anymore until the problem is fixed or you could cause more damage to the car. Check out the image below to see what I am talking about.
