The key body is damaged but not the key.

When putting the car in park, the ignition will not turn all the way off

When you say the key body is damaged, is it hitting something and preventing the key from fully turning? Do you have a spare key to try? Also, does the shifter fully engage in park?
Let me know. I have seen issues with the shift interlock solenoid not allowing the shifter to fully reach the park position. Also, I have seen blown ignition fuses that have prevented the key from turning fully off.
