First, this vehicle isn't offered in the US, so I have very limited technical information related to it. However, I will try my best to help. On vehicles today, there is a component on the transmission called a range sensor. This sensor is what determines what gear the vehicle is in as well as sends a signal to indicate the selection on the instrument panel.
The sensor is usually located on the transmission where the shift linkage connects. Check that to determine if something is loose or damaged.
