My car has a loss of power and the code that my friend got with his OBD reader is P3007. What is this and is this something that can be fixed by someone that's not a mechanic (me) or not?

Hi,

This vehicle isn't offered in the US, so I have no manuals specific to it. However, I did a little research and found the code is specific to the camshaft position sensor. Since the vehicle sat, I would recommend checking the connector to the sensor to make sure corrosion hasn't caused a weak signal to the sensor. Also, check to see if the wiring is in good condition as well.

If everything appears good, you can replace the sensor. One screw holds it in place. It appears to be a T20 screw head.

To locate the sensor, first locate the timing belt cover on the same side as the alternator. Behind the cover (which doesn't need to be removed) at the top left is the sensor. I attached a pic below.

As mentioned, check the wiring, connection, and for corrosion. If that all appears good, replace the sensor.

I hope this helps.

Take care,

Joe
